Roy J. Rosser, Ph.D. specializes in patents in mechanical and electrical inventions, with an emphasis on optics, pattern recognition, telecommunications and computer software. Dr. Rosser earned his degrees in physics (B.Sc., 1975), in applied optics (M.Sc., 1977) and in optical design (Ph.D., 1982) from Imperial College, London. As an experimental physicist, he conducted laser and synchrotron-based research at the Rutherford-Appleton Laboratory in Oxford, Brookhaven National Laboratory, NY and the Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory. Dr. Rosser is an inventor with over 90 issued U.S. and foreign patents, including patents on the technology now used to provide the virtual 1st Down Line on TV football broadcasts. Technology based on his inventions was awarded a Technical Emmy by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences in 2000. He is also a successful entrepreneur, having founded a NASDAQ-listed company based on intellectual property. Dr. Rosser is licensed to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. He joined Synnestvedt & Lechner LLP in 2003 as a patent agent.
